FAQ's

Rubber tracks on machinery such as excavators or skid steers cannot be repaired if they don’t have bolts or pins that hold them together. If they are ripped, gauged or damaged badly, they are non-repairable and will need to be fully replaced.

Best practice would be to replace both rubber tracks on your machine at the same time so that both sides are even. If you were to only replace one side, the new rubber track would wear quicker as there is uneven wear between both sides.

Rubber track size is measured by width, pitch and links in mm. Start by measuring the width of the track, then measure the pitch distance, this is the distance between one link centre to the other link centre.

Lastly, count the total number of links in the track. Once you have these measurements, you will be able to easily find a replacement rubber track that matches your track requirements. >> Check out our video on how to measure rubber tracks.

  1. Gather the necessary tools - chisel bar, open-end wrench & grease gun.
  2. Raise the machine slightly off the ground to make it easier to lift the track into place
  3. Check the track direction
  4. Lift the track onto the sprocket first , then the top (carrier) roller, and lastly the idler
  5. Once loosely on, lift the machine a bit more.
  6. Engage track fully on the sprocket.
  7. Then ease the track over the idler - you can use a chisel bar if necessary.
  8. Once the track is fully on the sprocket and idler you can tension up the track.
  9. Tighten back up the grease valve and add grease to pump up the track tension
  10. There should be approximately 1-3cm of gap between the bottom roller and the top of the track
  11. Run the machine
  12. Re-check tension after several hours of operation.

It depends on the quality of the rubber tracks and what surfaces you will be operating on. Harsh and rocky surfaces will cause faster wear and tear, but typically, rubber tracks usually estimated at 1 to 2 years for rubber tracks under normal operating conditions.

However, it is best to judge when your rubber tracks need to be replaced based on noticeable wear and tear.

Skid steer machines run constantly (unlike an excavator) and thus require a different type of rubber track.

The Rubbertrack Warehouse has specialized tracks to fit most makes and models of Skid-steer machines.

When you start to see very noticeable wear and tear on your rubber track, it’s time to get it replaced. When rubber tracks have noticeable wear and tear, traction is significantly reduced which presents safety risks.

The Rubbertrack Warehouse has heavy-duty rubber tracks that are made to fit all leading brands of machinery.

If you will be working on surfaces that can be damaged, you should use rubber tracks. In addition to offering more traction on most surfaces than steel tracks, rubber tracks are quieter, have vibration absorption, and do not damage the surface you're working on.

We offer rubber tracks for all leading brands of machinery. If you have steel tracks and need to do some work on sensitive surfaces, we have rubber track pads that can easily be fitted onto your steel tracks to prevent damaging surfaces.

At the Rubbertrack Warehouse we have tracks in stock to fit virtually all popular makes and models of machines that run on rubber tracks. Our heavy-duty rubber tracks are made to fit all leading brands of machinery.
